The archaeological zone and the pueblo
The Mayan site, occupied from the 13th to the 15th century, is visited in an hour and a half: El Castillo on its cliff, the Temple of the Frescoes, the small cove below where you can swim. Arrive at the 8am opening, before the heat and the Cancún buses. Four kilometres away, the pueblo, long just a junction, now holds restaurants, agencies and lodging cheaper than the beach, linked by a cycle path.
